Our 3 month ceramics course is designed for beginners who want to explore the art of ceramics in a relaxed, creative, and hands-on environment. Held at the serene ART BY THE SEA studio in Paphos, with stunning views of the Mediterranean, this course offers a comprehensive introduction to the magic of working with clay.

Weekly Lesson Plan:

Week 1: Introduction to Ceramics and Clay Basics

Discover the history of ceramics, explore different clay types, and learn basic handling techniques.

Week 2: Pinching and Texture Techniques

Create test tiles, experiment with textures, and craft a simple pinch pot.

Week 3: Coiling Method

Build a coil vase and practice smoothing and shaping techniques.

Week 4: Slab Construction

Create a slab box and design textured tiles for decorative or functional use.

Week 5: Introduction to Molding

Learn to make and use gypsum molds for shaping clay.

Week 6: Decorating Techniques – Glazing and Underglazing

Apply glazes, underglazes, and decorative finishes to test tiles and small pieces.

Week 7: Planning Your Masterpiece

Sketch designs and start creating a personalized ceramic project.

Week 8: Advanced Techniques – Shaping and Detailing

Continue refining your masterpiece with advanced hand-building skills.

Week 9: Glazing and Finishing Final Pieces

Explore advanced glazing techniques and complete your masterpiece for firing.

Week 10: Firing and Polishing

Learn about the firing process and prepare your pieces for their final polish.

Week 11: Final Touches and Presentation

Add finishing details and prepare your ceramics for display.

Week 12: Mini-Exhibition and Reflection

Celebrate your creations with a mini-exhibition and share reflections with the group.
